TORRINGTON, CT - Community Health & Wellness Center (CHWC) of Torrington and Winsted is pleased to introduce the community to its new mobile medical unit (MMU), “BETTY: Bringing Exceptional Treatment To You.”
The MMU will enable the center to expand its reach into the community and provide a flexible service delivery model that will help to meet the needs of a diverse population, addressing the lack of transportation in the region, which often presents as a barrier to care. The MMU is an important community asset that will also help to address social disparities and inequities often found among vulnerable and underserved populations. Its mission is to bring access and valuable healthcare services where the people of the communities we serve live and work. CHWC serves in a culturally sensitive and compassionate manner, with special emphasis on reaching the underserved.
“BETTY” will travel to various locations throughout the Northwest region to offer a range of non-critical care services, including:
The MMU will have onboard, a highly skilled staff that will include medical providers, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, and community health workers. The MMU has the capability to enter data into CHWC’s electronic medical record system that support supports clinical management, patient documentation and the ability to close gaps in care.
“We are excited to take ‘BETTY’ on the road and bring high quality medical and behavioral health care to everyone,” said Joanne Borduas, CHWC’s CEO. “Our mobile medical unit provides a direct, patient-centric experience that enables us to eliminate barriers to needed healthcare services for our most vulnerable populations, assisting us to make our communities stronger and healthier.”
