Torrington, CT, —Community Health & Wellness Center (CHWC) is offering a Family COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic on Wednesday, December 29th, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at its 469 Migeon Aveue, Torrington location for children five years of age and older. Unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or those parents or guardians wishing to receive a booster may also register to be vaccinated.
As Vice President Harris announced earlier today, the Biden-Harris Administration has awarded the largest field strength in history for its health workforce loan repayment and scholarship programs thanks to a new $1.5 billion investment, including $1 billion in supplemental American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding and other mandatory and annual appropriations. More than 22,700 primary care clinicians now serve in the nation’s underserved tribal, rural and urban communities, including nearly 20,000 National Health Service Corps (NHSC) members, more than 2,500 Nurse Corps nurses, and approximately 250 awardees under a new program, the Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) oversees these critical programs.
Torrington, CT - Community Health & Wellness Center (CHWC) is hosting a roundtable discussion with Attorney General William Tong and other dignitaries on Friday, October 15th, starting at 12 p.m. The one-hour in-person meeting will take place at the center’s 469 Migeon Avenue location in Torrington, and Joanne Borduas, CEO, CHWC, will serve as chairperson.

Community Health & Wellness Receives Two Health Resources and Service Administration Awards9/14/2021
Torrington, CT - Community Health & Wellness Center (CHWC) has received two awards from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that oversees the country’s more than 1,300 health centers. HRSA is the primary federal agency for improving health care for people who are geographically isolated, and/or economically or medically underserved.
TORRINGTON, CT - Community Health & Wellness Center (CHWC) of Torrington and Winsted is pleased to introduce the community to its new mobile medical unit (MMU), “BETTY: Bringing Exceptional Treatment To You.”
The MMU will enable the center to expand its reach into the community and provide a flexible service delivery model that will help to meet the needs of a diverse population, addressing the lack of transportation in the region, which often presents as a barrier to care. The MMU is an important community asset that will also help to address social disparities and inequities often found among vulnerable and underserved populations. Its mission is to bring access and valuable healthcare services where the people of the communities we serve live and work. CHWC serves in a culturally sensitive and compassionate manner, with special emphasis on reaching the underserved. TORRINGTON, CT, July 29th —Community Health & Wellness Center (CHWC), Torrington, and Winsted, CT, will celebrate National Health Center Week (NHCW) with a special event on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. outside at their 469 Migeon Avenue, Torrington, and 10 Center Street, Winsted, locations. The national initiative runs August 8-14, and the theme is “The Chemistry for Strong Communities.” The focus will be about showcasing the innovative ways that Health Centers are providing high-quality health care, improving health outcomes, and narrowing health disparities in our communities.
Community Health & Wellness Center (CHWC) announces it has reopened its Winsted healthcare facility located at 10 Center Street full time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Community Health & Wellness (CHWC), Torrington, CT, will continue to offer free COVID-19 testing throughout the month of March. Testing will be conducted on Fridays in an outdoor tent at its Torrington facility at 469 Migeon Avenue, from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The dates are: March 5, March 12, March 19, March 26.
Community Health & Wellness Center (CHWC), Torrington, has accepted four Northwestern Connecticut Community College (NCCC) senior nursing students over the course of their final semester, beginning on February 26th. During the next few months, CHWC will provide clinical experiences for the seniors. The clinical rotation will enable the students to complete the Nursing Program’s required in-person clinical hours.
