Torrington, CT, June 18 - Community Health & Wellness is offering weekly testing for COVID-19 throughout the next month at locations around the community. The test is free, and results will be known in two to three days. The CHW testing team includes Michelle Brady, director of nursing; Tara Monroy, practice manager; nurses; patient service representatives; and Jaclyn “Jacki” Alessio, licensed clinical social worker, who assists with registration and offers behavioral health and wellness counseling.
The first COVID-19 outreach was conducted on June 17th at the Trinity Episcopal Church parking lot at 220 Prospect Street, Torrington, here 37 people were tested. On Wednesday, June 24th, CHW will offer testing at Coe Park from 9:30 am until noon. Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has said he wants the state to conduct 42,000 tests per week through the end of July. The goal is 100,000 tests per week by August. “Testing during this pandemic is vitally important,” says Joanne Borduas, CEO of CHW. “It leads to rapid identification of cases, quick treatment for infected individuals combined with immediate isolation to prevent spread. Early testing also helps to identify anyone who came into contact with infected people so they too can be quickly treated. “I am proud of our dedicated team who are working hard on the frontlines to help keep our community healthy and safe. They are truly healthcare heroes.” Comments are closed.
