Community Health & Wellness to offer “Giving Thanks Giveaway” for Thanksgiving

TORRINGTON, CT, - For the past four years, Community Health & Wellness (CHW) has hosted a full Thanksgiving breakfast buffet to show appreciation for patients, partners, board members, and staff at its Torrington location, and last year they also hosted a continental breakfast at its new Winsted location, as well. In light of social distancing and safety protocols, this year CHW is offering the community a “Giving Thanks Giveaway.”

The giveaway consists of 100 bags of groceries with a gift card toward the purchase of a turkey and nonperishable side fixings and dessert to round out the Thanksgiving feast. CHW will distribute 50 bags of groceries on a first come/first serve basis at its Torrington facility at 469 Migeon Avenue on Wednesday, November 18th, and another 50 bags at its Winsted facility at 10 Center Street on Thursday November 19th, starting at 9 a.m. in both locations.

​Big Y World Class Market in Torrington has donated 100 reusable shopping bags to the center for the grocery giveaway, and recipients will receive a gift card to be applied toward their purchase of a turkey at Big Y. In addition, the nonprofit Step by Step hosted its second annual coat drive, and is donating more than 50 coats to CHW to distribute to those in need during the Giving Thanks Giveaway at both locations.

Founded by brothers Mike and Matt Keating from Waterbury, this is the second year Step by Step has designative the center as one of its outerwear recipients. “2020 has been a challenging year for us all, and Thanksgiving is the time to reflect on the many blessings in life,” says Joanne Borduas, COE of CHW. “At CHWC, we count our community of patients, our community partners, our board of directors, and our staff among the greatest of gifts.
