Infectious diseases are caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites and can spread directly and indirectly between people and animals. These diseases typically spread from person to person and through bug bites. 

What we treat
Our Infectious Disease services include diagnosis and management of:
  • Tick-born illnesses (Lyme disease and ehrlichiosis)
  • Viral infections (shingles, Epstein-Barr virus (mono), and other viral illnesses that can be difficult to diagnose or treat)
  • Bacterial infections (pneumonia, bloodstream infections, and bone and joint infections)
  • Sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, syphilis)
  • Respiratory infections (influenza, RSV, tuberculosis)

Sarah Humphreys, MD, MPH, is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, with a focus
on patient-centered care and public health. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at NYC,
and her Infectious Diseases fellowship at Mount Sinai in New York City. Dr. Humphreys is accepting
​new patients. 
HIV Care

Modern HIV Care
HIV is now a highly manageable chronic condition. With today's treatment, most individuals living with HIV can expect a normal life expectancy and simple, effective medication regimens. 

When treated effectively, people living with HIV can achieve an undetectable viral load, meaning the virus is not transmitted to sexual partners (U=U: Undetectable = Unremittable).

Knowing your HIV status is an important part of your overall health. Early diagnosis allows for timely treatment, better long-term outcomes and prevention of transmission. Testing is simple, confidential and available at our center.
