HIV Medical Care
Community Health & Wellness Center offers free and confidential HIV testing during regular medical office visits, dental visits, and on a walk-in basis. Our staff is trained to perform the OraQuick Rapid HIV screening which uses an oral swab and provides results in just 20 minutes. Knowing your HIV status is one of the easiest and most important steps you can take in order to treat and prevent transmission of this disease. One in five persons with HIV is unaware of their status and these individuals are responsible for most of the disease transmission. A late diagnosis can also result in the progression to AIDS, and the earlier this disease is detected the better the potential treatment outcomes.
HIV care has come a long way and is currently more of a chronic illness rather than a death sentence. Generally, patients with HIV experience normal life expectancy. There are several drug options available with some as easy as one tablet a day. There is also evidence that patients who are well controlled with medicines are less likely to transmit the virus. At our center, we have a team providing HIV-related services, from testing to treatment. If you do not know your status, we invite you to visit our center for your confidential testing.
